Well, It's been a while since I've last posted.... The holidays were crazy good for us at the shop, so many new customers, friends came through our doors. It's been a year and 1/2 now in our new location and they say it takes time, and boy time has been on our side.

Along with stoneware crocks, sap buckets are one of my favorite items to look for at yard sales and flea markets... I have them inside and outside, all around the house. Great for planting flowers in, plants, twig branches, or display on a hutch, shelf or grab some ole' utensils and there ya go...

Wonderful Wheelbarrows...

One of my favorite antiques and primitives is this wonderful wood and iron wheelbarrow that I picked up for a steal ( well hubby and my daughter didn't think so) on vacation a couple of years ago... As Mother's Day approaches, I know it's close to getting it out and decorating on our front porch. My sweet family knows how I love to decorate the yard and porch with flowers, so next week we'll head off and fill the truck with this years pretty flowers.. Can't wait!!!

Here's a picture of a similar one with it all filled up with beautiful flowers...

and another favorite is my distressed white wheelbarrow that I picked up at a yard sale.

Mix some greens, plant and flowers and there you go.

Gosh now I can't wait to get planting!!!!! Until next time...

Raking and Cleaning Away...

The weather has finally turned around and what better time to start the raking of the remaining leaves, branches and clutter from the winter... Love being outside working in the yard, don't care for those may flies though!!!

Time to re-dress the yard with lots of prim and rustic goodies.

Add a star or rusty bucket, yard stakes near a fence, wall or flower garden. Endless possibilities... be creative and have fun. Until next time....

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Yard Sale Weather...

I just love a good Yard Sale... Others junk is my treasure. Finding old accents to spruce up a spot in the house, it doesn't get better than that. I love mixing odds and ends and coming up with a nice display on a shelf, cabinet, table or bench. Soooo, as the weather gets warmer, it's almost time to grab the Dunkins coffee and take a trip.

The nice thing about antiques and primitives, old or new, you can mix em' up and it looks warming and cozy.

Maybe I'll see you out there shopping!!!

Out with the Old, In with the New...

Want something different to decorate for spring?? How about using Peppergrass... Looks real and it's easy to work with in whipping up a display. Add some peppergrass sprays to an old tin bucket, crock, willow basket or twig basket and brighten up any table, bench or shelf.

Add some sprays to an old rusty tin water can and display. Endless possibilities, and looks rustic. So different from all the spring florals of pinks, yellows and purples.

Valentine's Pretzel Rod Treats Recipe

This is a fun and easy recipe to make some great Valentine Pretzel Rod treats.

Ingredients:
Melting chocolate, can use white, red, chocolate or dark.
1 bag of whole pretzel rods
Red, white or pink sprinkles/jimmies
Wax paper
Cello bags and homespun fabric

To make:
Melt chocolate according to package directions. ( Can also use the new microwavable baking chips) Dip the pretzel rods in the chocolate and place on the wax paper
Sprinkle the jimmies and such on the pretzel before the chocolate hardens.
Place back on the wax paper, and let harden.
Can also place on a tray and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes.
Place a pretzel in a cello bag and tie with the homespun.

If feeling real crafty, can make valentine hang tags to tie onto bags...

Great for gift giving to Teachers, Nana's, Grandma's, Co-Workers, Kids, and Friends. Make sure to keep some for yourself. Have fun making!!!

Grubby Hang Tag Recipe

The Holidays are approaching, and those of you that like to add a special touch to your items, I thought I'd share with you a great and easy recipe to make Primitive Holiday and Everyday Grubby Hang Tags...

2 Cups of hot water

1/4 Cup instant coffee, dry

2-3 tea bags (let seep for a bit)

3 Tablespoons imitation vanilla scented oil , optional

Manilla Hang Tags

Mix all the ingredients above together. Then soak your tags in the mixture for 10-15 minutes. Lay the tags on a cookie sheet, lined with paper towels. Sprinkle the tags lightly with real cinnamon . Bake in the oven at 200 for 10-15 minutes.

Once done, You can stamp on them or write on them. If you're feeling really crafty, a really cool look is to add old time pictures applied with decoupage. Perfect for adding to holiday packages, birthday gifts, add to your dolls or prim wreaths and such. Have Fun!!!

RUSTING RECIPE:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup bleach
3 tablespoons of salt

Directions:

Mix all the ingredients together in a container. Soak the items that you want rusted in this solution until they have reached the desired look. Let your items dry...

This is great for rusting safety pins, jingle bells, etc. Have fun!!!
